French Aviation Collection

France produced some of the most innovative and historically significant aircraft of the twentieth century — from the pioneering designs of the interwar period through the jet age triumphs of Dassault, the regional workhorses of Nord and Aérospatiale, and the enduring training aircraft of Morane-Saulnier and Socata. This collection assembles primary-source technical documentation from the full breadth of French aviation manufacturing — factory manuals, maintenance references, and engineering documents from the manufacturers who defined French aerospace identity.

French aviation history is marked by discontinuity: the 1936 nationalisation, post-war reconstruction, successive mergers into Aérospatiale, and ultimately the formation of EADS and Airbus. Dassault alone survived as a fully independent French manufacturer. This archival collection preserves the documentation of manufacturers that no longer exist as independent entities — making these primary-source documents irreplaceable records of French aerospace heritage.
