The SNCASO SO.90 Cassiopée stands at the intersection of wartime clandestine engineering and post-war French military transport ambition. Designed under Vichy-era restrictions and refined into a family of operational aircraft serving the Aéronavale, the SO.90 and its direct derivatives — the SO.93, SO.94, and SO.95 Corse series — represent a defining chapter in French aviation's reconstruction era.
This archival collection assembles the complete Notice Technique de l'Avion SO-90, issued by SNCASO on 15 January 1948, covering all three Tomes across six fascicules, plus the original SO.93 Bimoteur commercial brochure — a rare promotional document from the same production family.
Powerplant: Twin Béarn 6D.07 inverted 6-cylinder in-line engines, each producing approximately 375–410 hp, driving Ratier 3-blade constant-speed propellers. The SO.90 series later evolved to twin Renault 12S-02 V-12 inverted air-cooled engines (580 hp each) in the SO.94/SO.95 production variants.
Configuration: Clean cantilever mid-wing monoplane, all-metal semi-monocoque fuselage, wingspan 17.90 m, wing area 37.60 m². Designed by Maurice Hurel for low drag and regional efficiency. The SO.94 introduced tricycle undercarriage; the SO.95M Corse III reverted to heavy-duty tailwheel for rough military fields.
Operational ceiling: 6,500 m. Maximum speed: 355 km/h. Cruising speed: 285 km/h. Payload: 10–13 passengers or equivalent freight.
