Potez 630 · 631 · 63-11 — Archival Manual Collection

The Potez 630, 631, and 63-11 series formed France’s primary twin-engine multirole aircraft family at the outbreak of World War II — an all-metal, stressed-skin cantilever monoplane with a distinctive twin-fin tail, designed by Avions Henry Potez and produced by SNCAN. The series split into two powerplant families: the Potez 630 with Hispano-Suiza 14 AB radials, and the Potez 631 and 63-11 with the more reliable Gnome-Rhône 14 M ultra-compact radials. The 63-11 A3 reconnaissance variant added a heavily glazed stepped nose and carried up to 12 × 7.5 mm MAC 1934 machine guns. Praised by test pilots for docile, predictable handling, the series served as heavy fighter, night fighter, and tactical reconnaissance platform throughout the 1939–1940 campaign.
