About the Aircraft
The P.149 was developed by Piaggio in Genoa and first flew in 1953. It is an all-metal, low-wing trainer and utility aircraft with retractable tricycle landing gear. Its biggest success came in Germany, where Focke-Wulf built the P.149D under licence and the Luftwaffe used it for many years as a primary trainer. Many ex-military P.149s later went to private owners and flying clubs, and the type still has a loyal following among vintage aircraft enthusiasts.
