The Nord 1200 Norécrin, designed and produced by the Société Nationale de Constructions Aéronautiques du Nord (SNCAN), stands as one of the most significant postwar French light aircraft programmes. Conceived in the final years of the Second World War and first flown in December 1945, the Norécrin introduced a modern, low-wing, all-metal cantilever monoplane configuration with a fully retractable tricycle undercarriage — a bold engineering statement for a four-seat touring aircraft of its era. The type evolved through five principal variants (Norécrin I through V), culminating in the armed military Nord 1203 Norécrin V equipped with machine-gun and rocket mounts.
