A curated digital reference collection for the Douglas D-558-1 Skystreak, combining a preliminary Douglas pilot’s handbook with related J35 engine documentation. Four supplementary Sicuro Publishing research and informational reports are included separately from the original source manuals.
Historical and Technical Context
The straight-wing Skystreak belongs to the early Douglas, U.S. Navy and NACA high-speed flight-research programme. The supplementary reports discuss its development, propulsion, research instrumentation and aerodynamic research role. They are modern editorial commentary, not original Douglas or NACA publications.
Original-Manual Manifesto
- Preliminary Pilot’s Handbook for Navy Model D-558 Airplane. Douglas Aircraft Company, Inc., El Segundo Plant, El Segundo, California. 1 December 1946.
- Handbook: Field Maintenance and Replacement, J35 Series Turbo-Jet Aircraft Engines. T.O. 2J-J35-6. Published under authority of the Secretary of the Air Force. 1 October 1955.
- Parts Catalog, Aircraft Engines (with J33 Type Controls). Models J35-G-3, J35-A-5, J-35-GE-9, J35-A-9, J35-A-11, J35-A-13 and J35-A-15. AN 02B-105CB-4. Published under authority of the Secretary of the Air Force and the Chief of the Bureau of Aeronautics. 24 November 1948.
Scope and Applicability
The pilot’s handbook is aircraft-specific. The other two publications are related J35 engine references: the parts catalog expressly lists the J35-A-11, while the field-maintenance cover identifies the J35 series generally. Exact engine applicability must be established from the individual document. This is not an exhaustive aircraft maintenance set, and the J35-A-17A/-17B/-27 overhaul handbook is not included in this manifesto.
Sicuro Publishing Supplements
Four supplementary research and informational reports accompany the collection outside the original-manual manifesto. They provide a separate modern historical perspective. References within these reports to external studies or archives do not mean those source documents are included. The collection description does not adopt unresolved numerical specifications or imply official NASA/NACA authorship, endorsement or release approval.
Format and Delivery
Digital PDF documentation supplied in a compressed RAR archive. No physical book is shipped. Download and extract the archive before opening the PDFs. Use a RAR-compatible extractor such as 7-Zip on Windows or The Unarchiver on Mac, then open the extracted documents in a PDF reader.
Historical Reference and Regulatory Boundary
This material is intended for historical research, education and documentary reference. It is not current approved airworthiness data, a flight-training course or authorization to operate, maintain or repair an aircraft or engine. Actual maintenance and flight operations require applicable current, revision-controlled documentation and qualified personnel.
