The Model 36 remains in production today, making the Bonanza family one of the longest continuously produced aircraft in aviation history—over 75 years and counting.

The QU-22B represented a unique military application of the Bonanza. During the Vietnam War, the U.S. Air Force modified Model 36 Bonanzas into unmanned surveillance aircraft for the Pave Eagle program. These aircraft, designated QU-22B, were equipped with acoustic sensors and relay equipment to detect enemy troop movements along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. While initially designed for unmanned operation, most QU-22Bs were actually flown by pilots due to technical challenges with autonomous flight. The program operated from 1968 to 1972, demonstrating the Bonanza's adaptability to specialized military missions.

Powered by Continental IO-470, IO-520, or IO-550 engines (depending on variant) producing 225 to 300 horsepower, Bonanzas cruise at speeds up to 200 mph with ranges exceeding 1,000 miles.
