Aermacchi SIAI Marchetti S.211 — Structured Technical Documentation Collection

This collection brings together the principal flight, performance, and technical manuals produced for the Aermacchi (SIAI-Marchetti) S.211 jet trainer and its variants, including the PAF AS-211 Warrior and the S.211A JPATS competitor. Documents span the original production era through active Philippine Air Force service, covering standard, advanced, and export-configured airframes.

Definitive Collection with Free Lifetime Updates

This is a living collection that we continuously expand and refine. As we acquire additional S.211 documentation — including the forthcoming Structural Repair Manual (SRM), Maintenance Manual (MM), and Wiring Manuals — we update this collection and provide free lifetime updates to all purchasers. Your one-time purchase guarantees access to all future additions and improvements.

Historical Note

The SIAI-Marchetti S.211 was designed in the late 1970s as a lightweight, low-cost jet trainer intended to bridge the gap between basic propeller training and advanced fast-jet conversion. First flown in 1981, the aircraft was developed by SIAI-Marchetti (later absorbed into Aermacchi and subsequently Leonardo/Alenia Aermacchi) as a private venture aimed at the export market. Its clean aerodynamic design — featuring a supercritical wing, semi-monocoque aluminum airframe, and tandem two-seat cockpit under a large single-piece canopy — gave it handling qualities well suited to ab initio jet training.

The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) became the primary operator, acquiring a substantial fleet that served through the 1980s and 1990s. The Philippine Air Force (PAF) also adopted the type as the AS-211 Warrior, and these aircraft remain in active service as of 2026, having transitioned to maritime patrol and light attack roles following the introduction of FA-50 fighters. A small number of S.211As were developed for the US JPATS competition, fitted with the more powerful Pratt & Whitney Canada JT15D-5C engine.

Following RSAF retirement, approximately 12–15 airframes entered civilian hands, primarily in the United States and Australia. Several operate under FAA Letters of Deviation Authority (LODA) for Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT). Euro Flight Test (EFT) in Europe uses demilitarized S.211s as modular airborne sensor test platforms. The first prototype (I-SITF) and the JPATS demonstrator (I-SMTE) are preserved at the Volandia Museum in Italy.

Engineering Norms and Standards

The S.211 was designed and certified to Italian military airworthiness standards, with export variants meeting the specific requirements of the Philippine Air Force and Singapore Air Force. The airframe is stressed to +6g / -3g in clean configuration. The supercritical wing section was an advanced design choice for a trainer of this class, improving efficiency at higher subsonic speeds. Ground handling relies on differential braking rather than nose-wheel steering — a characteristic well documented in the flight manuals included here. The JT15D-4C turbofan (2,500 lbf thrust) powers the standard variant; the S.211A uses the uprated JT15D-5C (3,190 lbf) developed for the JPATS requirement.

Specialized Documentation

The PAF AS-211 Warrior fleet remains under active military airworthiness oversight by the Philippine Air Force. Civilian-registered S.211s in the United States operate under FAA experimental or LODA frameworks. Operators seeking current airworthiness directives, service bulletins, or structural repair data should consult the current type support authority and the forthcoming SRM/MM additions to this collection.

Where to Find Additional Documentation

Official Support: Philippine Air Force Logistics Command for active AS-211 Warriors; FAA registry and LODA holders (e.g., Victory Aviation) for US-registered civilian airframes.

Historical Archives: Volandia Museum (Italy) holds prototype documentation; Singapore Air Force Museum preserves RSAF-era records. Type enthusiast communities and warbird forums maintain operator histories and technical discussions.

Specialty Vendors: Online Aviation Library maintains this structured S.211 documentation collection. Additional digitized historical archives may be found at Aircraft-Reports.com and Airplane-Manuals-Online.
