Historical note
Introduced in the post-war period from engineering work developed through the French Groupe O, the ATAR family became one of the defining axial-flow turbojet lines of independent French military aviation. ATAR variants powered aircraft including the Dassault Mirage III, Mirage V, Mirage F1 and Mirage IV, as well as the Super Mystère, Sud-Ouest Vautour and Super Étendard. Production continued from the early 1950s into the 1980s, with more than 5,000 engines produced across the family.
