The Learjet 35 and Learjet 36 represent the turbofan evolution of the Learjet family — the first Learjet models to abandon the General Electric CJ610 turbojet in favour of the far more efficient Garrett/Honeywell TFE731-2-2B turbofan, delivering 3,500 lbf per engine with 18.6% more thrust at sea level, 39.6% less fuel burn at takeoff, and 23.8% less fuel burn at cruise compared to the legacy CJ610. Certified under FAR Part 25 and produced from 1973 through 1994, the 35 and 36 share the same airframe — the 36 distinguished by a larger total fuel capacity (7,440 lbs vs. 6,238 lbs) and extended range of up to 2,708 nautical miles, at the cost of two passenger seats.
