Historical Note

The Focke-Wulf Ta-152 represents the pinnacle of piston-engine fighter development during World War II. Designed by Kurt Tank as an evolution of the successful Fw 190 series, the Ta-152 was specifically engineered to excel at high-altitude interception. First flown in late 1944, the Ta-152H featured an extended wingspan, pressurized cockpit, and the powerful Junkers Jumo 213E engine, enabling it to reach altitudes exceeding 48,000 feet with a top speed of approximately 472 mph at altitude.

Despite its exceptional capabilities, the Ta-152 arrived too late in the war to make a significant operational impact. Only approximately 150 aircraft were completed before Germany's surrender in May 1945. Today, the Ta-152 holds a distinguished place in aviation history as a testament to advanced aeronautical engineering under extreme wartime pressure.
