Historical Context
The Focke-Wulf Fw 44 Stieglitz (Goldfinch) was designed by Kurt Tank and first flew in 1932. Sweden acquired a licence to produce the type locally, with FFVS manufacturing the SK 12 for Flygvapnet basic pilot training through the late 1930s and into the war years. The SK 12 served alongside the Fw 44's other licence-built variants across Europe, and surviving examples remain among the most prized vintage biplanes in Scandinavia today.
