Elizalde / ENMA Tigre IV engine manuals

Historical note
Development began in 1941 and the Tigre was first introduced in 1943. Produced from 1943 to 1958, with more than 1,000 engines built, it became a standard training powerplant of the Spanish Air Force through the mid-20th century. Its Spanish design evolved to support German-heritage training platforms and helped fill a domestic production gap after the Spanish Civil War.
The engine later became popular in European vintage aerobatics, flight clubs and private biplane restoration. Tigre-powered CASA 1.131 / Bücker Jungmann aircraft, including restored originals and airworthy replicas, continue to keep the type visible in flight and museum contexts.
Engine and variant scope
- Inverted inline, four-cylinder, air-cooled piston engine with overhead-valve actuation and a single carburetor.
- Displacement: 386.3 cu in / 6.3 litres; bore and stroke: 120 × 140 mm / 4.72 × 5.51 in.
- Power range: 125–150 hp; weight: approximately 264 lb / 120 kg; fuel: aviation gasoline, 80/87 octane minimum standard.
- Tigre IV-A: 125 hp, 6.0:1 compression ratio. Tigre IV-B: 150 hp, 6.5:1 compression ratio.
- The inverted architecture improved forward visibility, while independent cylinder air cooling supported the compact training-aircraft installation.
Aircraft applications
Military applications include the CASA 1.131, AISA I-115, HM-1, HM-2, HM-3 and HM-9. The CASA 1.131 also saw post-military civilian use in aerobatics and flight clubs.
