Great Lakes Aircraft Company – Aircraft Production History

The Great Lakes Aircraft Company (GLAC), founded in 1929 and based in Cleveland, Ohio, was a short-lived but historically significant American manufacturer that produced biplane aircraft for both the civilian and military markets between 1929 and 1935. The company is best remembered for its elegant 2-T-1 sport and training biplane — a design so well-regarded that it was revived in the 1970s and remains in production today — and for its BG dive bomber, which served with the United States Navy. In 1933, the company was reportedly also working on a steam power plant for driving aircraft turbines, reflecting the experimental spirit of the era.
