General Aircraft Limited (GAL) was a British aircraft manufacturer active from 1931 to 1949, when it merged with Blackburn Aircraft. The company is best known for its innovative Monospar wing construction — a patented single-spar design that produced a series of light touring aircraft — and for its wartime contribution of the Hotspur and Hamilcar military gliders, the latter capable of carrying a tank into battle.
